Canopies Feedback: I see you have no answers yet, probably because we would assume a gazebo kit would come with wood posts and not poles. Anyway, I will try to help you with the info you have provided. First follow the layout dimensions in the kit, now substitute your 4″x4″ treated posts for the poles keeping them in the same layout.
Now level them all at the same height, cut a short piece of the poles provided and secure them to the (leveled) tops of 4″x4″.
Since I can’t see these poles/posts I assume you can come up with a method to do this. Make sure you fasten post to poles in a secure manner. Now you have to finish the install. The top portion of the gazebo doesn’t realize that it is being fastened to a short pole vs. long full length pole-so this should work.
If in fact you have a octagon shaped tent instead of a gazebo, you might take it back and get what you want. Otherwise I think this will work if you secure everything in a tight manne.
Good Luck
Canopies Feedback: I am guessing you got a relatively cheap tent-style thing, with metal poles for legs and the roof frame. Probably metal or plastic multi-connectors around the roof.
If you go through the trouble of using wood posts, you’ll basically need to rebuild the entire frame out of wood. This can be done, but the angles are certainly tricky. In short, it will be a lot of work, and if you are good, you’ll end up with a nice frame underneath a mediocre canopy. If I were you, I’d stick with the metal poles, or return it for something more substantial.
